PETER ZAJIČEK

The Slovak conductor Peter Zajíček studied violin at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Bratislava and studied chamber music privately with Jan Albrecht. He also participated in a number of Early music master classes.

Peter Zajíček has been concert-master of Musica Aeterna Bratislava since 1986 and artisic director since 1990. He is the music director and leader of Europe, which was honoured by a number of prizes for its recordings, as Diapazon d´Or (the complete recording of Concerti grossi by Georg Muffat). Simultaneously he is the leader of the Haydn Sinfonietta Wien and lecturer of chamber music at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Bratislava, co-founder and president of the Centre of Early music in Bratislava, which organises a.o. annually international Days of Early Music.

Besides maintaining a busy performing and recording schedule with Musica Aeterna, he is active in musicological research. His research in music history and lectures are appreciated at home and abroad as well (Paris, Nürnberg, Wien, Münster, Prague...). Since 1996 he is lecturer at the chamber music de partmen of the Academy of Music and Performing Arts.

Peter Zajíček has also appeared as a chamber music partner with leading Early music specialist, as Andrew Parrott, John Holloway, Simon Standage, Stephen Stubbs, Paul Goodwin, R. Fuller and others.
